A senior Police officer said that a drug trafficker who was in the Kurunegala Police custody escaped early Monday morning (16).
The suspect is a 24-year-old woman, a resident of Elugala, Kurunegala.
A team of Kurunegala Police officers arrested this woman with six grams and 110 milligrams of heroin.
A senior Police officer said that this woman has been arrested by the Police before with drugs.
On Sunday (15), the Police arrested the suspect.
Police information revealed that she was kept in a separate cell at the Police station until she was produced in Court on Monday and that the cell did not have toilet facilities.
The suspected woman said that she wanted to go to the toilet in the Monday morning (16) and the Sub-Inspector who was on night duty and the Sergeant who was on sub-duty handed her over to a civil warden of the Police to take her to the toilet.
A senior Police officer said that the warden took the person to the toilet and the suspect woman had escaped from there.
