Fifteen involved in President’s residence arson identified
The Criminal Investigation Department has clearly identified 15 people involved in the burning of President Ranil Wickremesinghe’s private residence in Fifth Lane,Colombo 3.
Security camera footage, videos and photos shared on social media networks and unedited videos obtained from media organizations were investigated.
Information from the Criminal Investigation Department stated that investigations are currently underway to identify the whereabouts of the suspects. Information from the Criminal Investigation Department disclosed that a suspect who was discovered in the investigations regarding this arson has now left the country and assistance of the Interpol has been sought to bring him back. The suspect who has fled the country is the son of a former deputy minister.
The Criminal Investigation Department has revealed in its investigations that he was the first to release the live video on social media to ask people to gather in front of Ranil Wickremesinghe’s house. It is said that the video was recorded by a woman and she is currently in hiding.
