Finance State Minister Semasinghe at Morocco for IMF Annual Meeting

The annual meeting of the International Monetary Fund begins today (9) in Marrakech, Morocco and Finance State Minister Shehan Semasinghe will represent Sri Lanka. Central Bank Governor Dr Nandalal Weerasinghe, Finance Ministry Secretary Mahinda Siriwardena and other officials will participate in this annual conference.

State Minister Semasinghe said he was looking forward to representing Sri Lanka at the IMF World Bank 2023 Annual Meetings.

“It’s a great opportunity to enhance international confidence with our partners to ensure a shift from stabilisation to growth from 2024 onwards,” the State Minister said.

Semasinghe says that Sri Lanka will be able to further consolidate the international trust that has been strengthened through the reforms carried out following the practices accepted by the world at the annual conference of the International Monetary Fund. The minister indicated that he is confident that the economic stabilization that is currently taking place in Sri Lanka will create the necessary background to move towards economic growth in 2024.

The heads of the International Monetary Fund as well as finance ministers, central bank governors and officials of many countries will join the meeting which will be held until the 15.
