Starting the Kandy Esala Festival, the first Kumbal Perahera will take to the streets today (21).
The Kumbal Perahara is scheduled to start at 7.10 pm from Sri Dalada Maligawa and will parade along Dalada Veediya, DS Senanayake Veediya,
Temple Road, Deva Veediya, Colombo Street, Yatinuvara Street and Raja Veediya before returning to the Dalada Maligawa. The Kumbal Perahera will parade the streets for five days till August 25.
The first Randoli Perahera will take to the streets on August 26 after a five day Kumbal Perahera.
The final Randoli Perahera will be held on the Nikini Full Moon Poya Day on August 30. The Kandy Esala Perahera will conclude with a daytime Perahera and water cutting ceremony on the following day on August 31 with the presentation of the Sandeshaya to the President at the President’s House in Kandy.
