Fiscal Officer hands over Injunction order to Dodangoda

The injunction issued by Colombo No. 01 District Court recently, to train driver Indika Dodangoda, for allegedly attempting to tarnish the image of Transport, Highways and Mass Media Minister Dr. Bandula Gunawardhana, by making false accusations, was handed over to Dodangoda, at his residence, by the Court Fiscal Officer.

As per submissions made by the Minister’s lawyers regarding the damage done to his reputation, train driver Indika Dodangoda is charged with making false allegations in the media and social media, that Minister Dr. Bandula Gunawardhana received bribes from an Indian company in connection with the awarding of a construction contract by the Railway Department.

Accordingly, the injunction issued by the Court included that the accused had no right to make statements in any way, including in interviews, defaming the complainant and acting in a manner directly or through another person, which insults the complainant and doing the same either directly or indirectly, by the defendant or through any other person using any print, verbal or social media.
