Consumers can now order fish online from the Fisheries Corporation and have it delivered.

Fisheries State Minister Piyal Nishantha de Silva said that the Ceylon Fisheries Corporation (CFC) has thought of the current market trends and has made it possible for consumers to get CFC fish products to their homes through UBER and PICKME services. Accordingly, in the first phase, this facility will be provided to the consumers in Colombo and suburbs.

The State Minister said this while participating in the re-opening of a renovated CFC’s fish store located at the economic centre premises in Kirimandala Mawatha, Narahenpita on Wednesday (23).

“Now it is possible to pay for the purchased fish with cash as well as with the QR method. It is significant that through services like UBER and PICKME, customers have been given the opportunity to buy fish products and bring them to their homes. This is a good sign that not only the buildings but also the fishing corporation is modernizing itself with new ideas,” he said.

The State Minister added that although the Fisheries Ministry and the CFC are facing various challenges, those are being solved to move forward with a vision. He further added that it is his intention to provide quality nutritious fish at a low price and to provide a fair value for the fish harvest of the fishing community, regardless of the challenges.

“Every Government institution in Sri Lanka needs to be modernized. We need to start working in a way that suits the new trends of the modern world. We cannot move forward as a country with narrow ideas. We can build this country only if everyone works for a common goal,” State Minister Silva added.
