Five, including Arun Siddharthan remanded
The Jaffna Magistrate’s Court has ordered that five people, including Jaffna Civil Society Centre leader Arun Siddharthan, be remanded until May 2.
A group of seven including Arun Siddharthan had allegedly entered a hotel in the Nallur area of Jaffna and assaulted a group of people.
The owner of the hotel had complained to the Jaffna Police that on the night of April 20, seven people, including women, attacked his hotel in the Nallur area of Jaffna.
It is stated in the complaint that the attack was carried out by pouring dung mixed with water on the bodies of the group including the hotel owner. According to the complaint, the Jaffna Police have arrested six people including Arun Siddharthan and his wife. The six have been brought before the Magistrate after investigation and a woman who is breastfeeding had been released after warning.
