Five loitering in Thalawila Church arrested

Kalpitiya Police have arrested five suspects from Silawathura area in Mannar who were suspiciously roaming among devotees at the Thalawila Church ground on Tuesday night.

According to the Police, a group of youths between 22, 23 and 24 have been arrested in Silawathura.

The police said that these suspects were arrested when they were wandering around in a suspicious manner among the nearly 20,000 who had participated for the annual feast of the St. Anne’s National Shrine Thalawila.

Police said that they are questioning why they came to the church grounds. The arrested suspects were to be produced in the Puttalam court after interrogation.
