Five Sri Lankan spikers for Malaysian League
Five Sri Lankan Volleyball players are expected to take part in the Malaysian Volleyball League (MVL) which is scheduled to be held from March 8 to 13 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Three members of the Sri Lanka men’s Volleyball team, Ayesh Perera, Mahela Indeewara, and Tharusha Chamath, got a chance to play in this league tournament while two players from the national junior team Kavindu Pabasara and Rehan Madushanka also accompanied with seniors.
The successful discussion between two Volleyball Federations Sri Lanka and Malaysia paved the way to get contracts for Sri Lankan players for the first time in history. Sri Lankan five spikers already left for this major tournament which is going to provide good exposure for the local players.
Eight teams will compete in the 2022 Malaysia Volleyball League (MVL) organised by the Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) at the Dewan Bola Tampar, Section 4. Ayesh, Mahela, and Tharusha will be a part of the Selangor Lion team. Pabasara and Rehan got a chance to play for the Putrajaya Hawks team. More than Rs 20,000,000 will be on offer for the winners at this tournament. (D.R)
