Five youths Europe bound on forged documents nabbed
Immigration and Emigration Border Enforcement Unit Officers yesterday arrested five youths at the Departure Terminal of Katunayake International Airport (KIA), while trying to leave for Europe using forged passports.
One suspect had completed all formalities and arrived at the last gate to board the flight to Doha, and from there to Austria.
Four other youths from Jaffna had arrived at the last gate to board flight to Male, Maldives, and from there to Germany.
Immigration and Emigration Border Inspection Unit Officers re-examined all the documents that the suspects had presented at the last moment, and discovered that the passports and plane tickets were forgeries.
The suspects were handed over to the KIA CID for further investigations.
