Flying Drone over Victoria Dam: Three arrested
The Teldeniya Police have arrested an owner of a hotel along with a married couple for allegedly sending a drone camera to the high security area around the Victoria Dam and taking footage of it.
Investigations have revealed that the drone camera was flown from a hotel in Victoria Golf Park.
The couple arrested on suspicion have told the police that they had flown the drone due to a request from the owner of the hotel where the couple was staying to obtain the footage with the intention of videotaping the beauty of the area around the hotel and promoting it on YouTube.
Accordingly, the owner of the hotel along with the couple has been arrested by the police.
When the drone camera was brought back to the hotel after being sent to the Victoria Dam for footage, it had fallen on the roof of the Army’s Fourth Mechanical Regiment stationed in the area due to a fault in the battery. According to a complaint lodged by the officers of the camp with the Teldeniya Police, the couple who had flown the drone camera were arrested.
