Foreign Employment Agencies fund SLBFE Welfare programmes
Kurunegala Trans Gulf Foreign Employment Agency Managing Director Fazli Rafaidin recently handed over Rs. 1.1 million from the Registration fees reimbursed to the respective licensed Foreign Employment agencies (FE), when sending workers for overseas employment, to Labour and Foreign Employment Minister Manusha Nanayakkara, to be utilised for Welfare activities implemented by the Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment (SLBFE).
At the request of the Finance Ministry and the Health Ministry, the SLBFE donates Rs. 500 million to the Maharagama Cancer Hospital, to purchase essential medicines, and the funds donated by the FE agent too will be added for this worthy endeavour.
From the Rs. 500 million donated by the SLBFE, Rs.100 million has already been released and the balance to be released as and when the need arises to purchase medicines.
Rafaidin’s donation of Rs.1.1 million was made during an event organiszed to hand over Rs. 8.8 million in financial assistance, from the SLBFE Labour Welfare Fund, to the migrant workers who had to return prematurely, due to accidents and illnesses.
SLBFE Chairman Hilmi Aziz, Additional General Managers M.R.C.B. Ekanayake, L.A.P.K. Liyanwala and Deputy General Manager Manjula Batugedara were also present.
