Foreign Employment for Retired Armed Forces Personnel and War Heroes’ Family Members
A meeting to educate Tri Forces Personnel on the programme of providing Foreign Employment to retired Tri Forces Personnel and War Heroes’ Family Members was held on Tuesday (4), under the patronage of State Minister of Defence, Premitha Bandara Tennakoon.
This Foreign Employment programme was facilitated following discussions State Minister Tennakoon had with Minister of Labour and Foreign Employment, Manusha Nanayakkara.
The Ministry of Labour and Foreign Employment has expressed its willingness to provide a certain quota of the Foreign Employment opportunities received by the Government from abroad, to retired Military Personnel and War Heroes’ Family Members.
As the initial phase, a certain amount of Construction sector job opportunities will be provided in Israel.
Arrangements are being made to provide loan facilities to expatriates at concessional interest rates through state banks, and 67 personnel from the Army have been identified to be sent for these jobs. Further, instructions have been given to the Navy and Air Force authorities to call for nominations from prospective personnel.
Furthermore, it was informed that retired three Armed Forces personnel under 44 years will be selected and will have to undergo a brief training through the Ministry of Labour and Foreign Employment, and also face an examination conducted by them.
Senior Tri Forces Officers and representatives of the Ministry of Labour and Foreign Employment participateded in the discussion.
