Foreign national arrested for overstaying visa

The person arrested is a fifty-year-old Russian national. He had been living in a rented out house with his wife and two children at Boossa, Kedela Aluth Road.

When the Ratgama Police arrived to look into a complaint made by the owner of the house that taxes had not been paid for the house by the Russian national for a period of nine months an investigation had been carried out and it had been discovered that the Russian had been living in the country without a valid visa from the year 2014.

Accordingly, the suspect Russian national had been taken into custody. Police had been told that this suspect had been engaged in a business online. The Russian suspect was scheduled to be produced before the Galle Additional Magistrate on 10.

The wife and the two children of the Russian national are to be arrested as well. Officer-In-Charge of the Rathgama Police Crimes Division Sub-Inspector of Police D. G. Pushpakumara is carrying out investigations into this incident.
