Foreigner arrested at BIA

A foreigner has been taken into custody with a firearm at the departure lounge of the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) in Katunayake last night (11).

The said foreigner had arrived at the airport last night in order to board a flight to Malé, Maldives.

He is identified as a 58-year-old Maldivian.

The police said, a firearm similar to a revolver was discovered inside his luggage while it was being scanned.

Further investigations are being conducted by the Katunayake Airport Police.
