Zukli played for Royal from 1990 to 1992 and set up a wicket keeping record in the 1990 Royal-Thomian taking six catches behind the stumps while not conceding a single bye in both innings. In his final year, in 1992, he top scored for Royal with 45 runs in the first innings of the big match. He also played one ‘A’ division rugby match for Royal first XV as a full back against Vidyartha in 1991.
He is the elder brother of Zulker Hamid the former Sri Lankan scrum half who led the invincible Royal rugby team in 2002, which won the rugby double including the ‘A’ division league and the Milo knock out tournament and set up the Bradby Shield record aggregate of 83-0. against Trinity College.
Zulki was the uncle of Thulaib Hassan the skipper of Royal team of 2019 which won the Singer League Championship and the captain of the Sri Lanka youth rugby team.
