The late R. Rajamahendran served as Vice-President of the Board of Control for Cricket in Sri Lanka (BCCSL) in the early 1980s under late Minister Gamini Dissanayake.
Former national cricketer Roshan Mahanama stated on his Twitter: “He played a silent role in helping Sri Lanka cricket by supporting many cricketers including myself.”
Former Skipper Mahela Jayawardene said: “Really sad to hear the news. He was an ardent cricket fan who had a passion for the game.”
Former Skipper Sanath Jayasuriya said: “He has contributed so much for Sri Lanka cricket in his capacity as Vice-President in gaining ICC Test status for Sri Lanka and has supported many aspiring cricketers.”
