Former Speaker Joseph Michael’s funeral tomorrow

The Funeral of former Speaker Joseph Michael Perera will take place tomorrow (Sunday) evening at the Ekala cemetery. Cortege will leave residence at Gama Meda Road, Thudella at 3 p.m and the remains will be kept at the Roman Catholic Church at Thudella before being taken for

burial at the Ja-Ela cemetery.Perera was the 17th speaker of Sri Lanka. He joined the active politics as an active member of the Ja Ela Urban Council in 1964. He held a number of Ministerial portfolios including Labour and Fisheries from 1989 to 2015.
