Former Sri Lanka Cricket national curator Godfrey Dabare dies aged 62

Former Sri Lanka Cricket national curator Godfrey Dabare died on September 29 at the age of 62.

Dabare oversaw pitch preparation and ground maintenance at cricket venues across Sri Lanka, playing a key role in ensuring grounds were ready to host international matches.

He also served as Sri Lanka Cricket’s international cricket venue manager, working closely with ground staff on preparations for international tours and tournaments.

His contribution was particularly evident during the rain-affected 2023 Asia Cup, when ground staff worked tirelessly to protect pitches and prepare grounds for play.

Their efforts were recognised with a US$50,000 reward announced by the Asian Cricket Council and Sri Lanka Cricket for curators and groundsmen in Colombo and Kandy. (Newswire)
