Formulate a Code of Conduct for MPs – Ranil
UNP MP Ranil Wickremesinghe suggested a Code of Conduct be formulated for Parliamentarians to ensure that they speak and behave in a respectable manner.
He made this suggestion following Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena’s opening statement when Parliament proceedings yesterday urging the MPs to behave respectfully to maintain the dignity of the August assembly.
He said that the Party Leaders would not disagree with this suggestion and when such a Code of Conduct is established, Members could behave accordingly. Then the Party Leaders and the Speaker could speak personally to the Members who do not follow the Code of Conduct.
