Four arrested over car, cash robbery in Mattakkuliya

Mattakkuliya Police arrested four persons on Wednesday (23) who robbed the car that belonged to the custodian of the Mapitigama Patthini Devalaya in Nawagamuwa in Mattakkuliya along with Rs.300,000 of money.

This robbery has taken place on Tuesday (22) when the he stopped the car near a restaurant in Mattakkuliya. Giving a statement to Police, he said that the amount of Rs.300,000 was also in the car.

Four residents of Mattakkuliya in the age group of 24 and 30 have been arrested in connection with the robbery.

Police said that two of them are officers who are involved in seizing vehicles. The Mattakkuliya Police say that they will take steps to produce all suspects in court.
