Four dead, one critical in Thambuttegama car crash
Four persons died when the motor car in which they travelled collided with a lorry stationed in the Eriyagama area in Thambuttegama yesterday.
Eights persons were travelling in the motor car when the accident took place. Three children and an elderly woman who were injured in the accident have been admitted to Thambuttegama Base Hospital with the help of local residents.
One of the injured is being treated in the Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital’s Emergency Care Unit as she is in critical condition. According to hospital sources, four people were already dead when the injured were admitted to Thambuttegama Base Hospital. Tambuttegama Police said that the driver of the vehicle and two women who were in the van, along with a man have died.
Thambuttegama Police said that the cause of the accident was the reckless driving of the car driver.
