Four Police teams to track down Ambalangoda shooter
Four Police teams have been deployed to conduct search and arrest the suspect involved in the shooting in the Ambalangoda town on Thursday.
The Ambalangoda ASP’s office said that three investigation teams and Special Task Force officers have commenced an investigation since Thursday afternoon, in connection with the shooting that took place near a main school in Ambalangoda. The suspect is currently hiding and it is believed that the suspect will be arrested in the next few days, he said.
A 41- year-old moneylender named Vikum Silva, a resident of Randombe, who had come to pick up his children from a school in Ambalangoda was injured in the shooting.
The person who was shot had been on his way to pick up his children when two unknown gunmen who had arrived on a motorcycle had shot him and fled. Several teams of police officers, including Ambalangoda Headquarters Police, Inspector Prasanna Algiriyage have commenced investigations on the instructions of Ambalangoda Assistant Superintendent U.M.Amarasena.
