Fourteen remanded over death in Dehiwala assault case

Fourteen suspects who were involved in the murder of Dilshan Ranga Kumara and seriously injuring another individual were ordered to be

remanded till May 23 by Mount Lavinia Additional Magistrate Sanjaya Wijesinghe. The Additional Magistrate made this order when the suspects were produced before court by Dehiwala police yesterday.

Police told court that a 27 year old three wheeler driver has been clubbed to death and another has sustained critical injuries

The Additional Magistrate ordered to conduct the post mortem examination on the body ofhte victim.

The suspects were residents of Kalutara, Nilaweli, Kinniya, Kalutara, Bandaragama, Beruwala, Kanthalai and Ruwanwella areas.

The suspects had claimed that two persons who had allegedly trespassed to an air conditioning repair centre in the Dehiwala area were beaten, restrained and detained while trying to escape and were then handed over to the police.

However, police investigations have uncovered that while the victim had been walking on the road, he was taken to the repair center, beaten and detained by the group suspecting that the victim had entered the air conditioner repair center.
