Friday also allocated for Policy Speech debate
Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa yesterday advised Highways Minister Johnston Fernando to inform Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena to allocate next Friday (21) as an additional day for the Adjournment debate on the policy statement presented to Parliament by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa.
The Prime Minister made these directive when, Chief Government Whip and Highways Minister Johnston Fernando requested the Prime Minister to allow next Friday (21) also to be allocated for the debate at the first meeting of the government group in Parliament yesterday. The Prime Minister chaired the meeting.
“Although it was decided at a discussion chaired by the Speaker to hold the Adjournment Debate on the policy statement presented to Parliament by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa on January 19 and 20, the Chief Whip Minister Johnston Fernando requested Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa to allow Friday 21 also to be allocated for the debate since a majority of ruling Party MPs were ready to express their views.
The Prime Minister advised that the Speaker should be informed get Friday January 21 allocated for this debate.
