The owner of the paddy field had informed the police after finding parts of an Army uniform while attempting to clear an old dam that supplies water to the paddy field.
Preliminary investigations by the police have revealed that the bodies of soldiers suspected to have been killed by LTTE cadres during the war may be buried at this location.
After the police reported the matter to the Court, the Kilinochchi Magistrate arrived at the scene and inspected the tools, including water bottles, Army uniforms and human skeletons and ordered excavations.
The Kilinochchi Judicial Medical Officer has confirmed that the skeletons are those of humans.
