‘Galle Face’ protest site attack: Stay Order prevents SDIG Deshabandu being named a suspect
The Court of Appeal yesterday issued a Stay Order preventing the implementation of the letter sent by the Attorney General (AG) asking to name Senior DIG Deshabandu Tennakoon as a suspect in the case pertaining to the attack on the ‘Galle Face’ protest site and the discovery of more than Rs.160 million from President’s House on June 9.
Also, based on the said letter, three more interim restraining orders were issued, preventing the arrest of the Senior DIG and preventing him from being named as a suspect in the proceedings related to the relevant incidents. The Court of Appeal issued this Interim Order after considering a Writ Petition filed by Senior DIG Deshbandu Tennakoon against the issuance of the relevant letter by the Attorney General.
