Galle-Kandy ends in draw; Suminda and Oshada hit tons

Suminda Lakshan, batting at number 9, made a fighting knock of 106 with 8 fours and six guiding the Galle side to score 465 (all out) in their first innings of the National Super League Four Day cricket fixture which ended in a draw at the Galle International Stadium, yesterday.

Kandy, who scored 482 (all out) in their first innings managed to get first innings points as the Galle team were all out with 17 runs short of the Kandy innings. Kandy, in their second innings, scored 253 for 5 wickets at close with Oshada Fernando hitting an unbeaten 122 while skipper Kamindu Mendis made 55. Galle skipper Dhananjaya Lakshan ended with 3 for 24 taking bowling honours.

Roshen Silva slams 174 (subhead)

Meanwhile, Colombo’s Roshen Silva made an unbeaten knock of 174 was the highlight in their drawn game against Jaffna played at the Mahinda Rajapaksa International Stadium, yesterday. Jaffna made a massive 555 (all out) and 217 for 5 wickets at close while Colombo scored 360 in their first innings with National Test team discarded player Roshen Silva making a superb knock of 174 with 19 fours in his 259-ball innings. Roshen the 33-year-old right-hander hit his 24th first-class century yesterday which is the highest individual total so far in the tournament.
