Game meat racket in drought hit Kataragama

There is a racket of killing wild animals who are roaming in search of water in this drought season, in Kataragama and suburb areas by adding poison to water holes and artificial water holes made with polythene sheets.Wildlife Uva Zone Assistant Director Upul Indrajith and Yala National Park Warden Manoj Vidyaratne told the media.

The Park Warden said that most of the tanks and water holes have been dried up in Yala National Park and in Wildlife reserves and these poachers kill these animals in order to sell them to Kataragama pilgrims for a large profit.Officials said that they have started a round the clock patrol service to curb this racket.
