Gampaha SLPPers urge Basil to enter Parliament

A resolution has been passed at four meetings of the Gampaha District Electoral Boards, calling on former Minister Basil Rajapaksa to enter Parliament to strengthen the present Government led by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa.

The resolution calls on Basil Rajapaksa, the National Organizer of Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP), to enter Parliament as a Member of Parliament and obtain a responsible ministerial post.

The resolution also calls on him to assume responsibility for coordinating the political affairs of the Government, which is led by the SLPP.

Accordingly, the relevant resolution has been passed at four Gampaha District Electoral Boards meetings at Minuwangoda, Attanagalla, Mirigama and Dompe. Tourism Minister Prasanna Ranatunga presided over the Zoom meetings.

Accordingly, the SLPP will go down in history as the first political party in Sri Lanka to hold an Electoral Council meeting using an online platform.

The Electoral Board meetings were held through Zoom technology due to the lack of permission for gatherings as per health instructions. Around 500 Electoral Board members had joined the meetings.
