GCE A/Ls begin without incident

Examinations Commissioner General Amith Jayasundara told the Daily News that the GCE Advanced Level Examination was held yesterday (25) without any issue.

He also said that a few students who were affected by the floods and adverse weather were directed to the relevant examination centres with the assistance of the Security Forces. Accordingly, those students who faced flooding in areas such as Matara, Akuressa, Batticaloa, Kahatagasdigiliya etc. were directed to the relevant examination centres and provided with the opportunity to appear for the examination without any hindrance.

Religion and Civilization subjects were held yesterday (25) in the morning, and the first question paper of Biology and Economics was held in the afternoon.

This year, 333,185 candidates have been appearing for the GCE Advanced Level Examination at 2,312 centres.

Jayasundara further said that candidates facing any difficulty due to adverse weather can call the Disaster Management Centre’s hotline 177 for assistance. Candidates can also call the Examinations Department hotline 1911 to resolve any problem.

Jayasundara added that if any advice is required regarding the examination, the School Examinations Organisation Branch can be contacted on 0112 785 922 or 0112 784 537.
