Girl held for mother’s murder was raped repeatedly

Divulapalessa Police said that the 16-year-old girl who strangled her mother to death and tried to show that she had committed suicide with an overdose of drugs had been raped a year ago.

The Police say that she was raped when she was 15 years old. The suspect told the Police that she was raped at a house in Galporuyaya, Girandurukotte.

She told the Police about this when she was arrested and interrogated for killing her mother. She told the police that her mother stopped her schooling and took her to a house in Galporuyaya in Girandurukotte and handed her over to a man. She said the man raped her between July and October 2022.

The girl also told the Police that after she ran away from that house and returned home, her mother tried to give her to her paramour to rape her.

The Police said that an investigation was underway regarding her disclosure. The girl is currently in remand for murdering her mother.
