The government has turned its attention to promoting environment‑friendly electric vehicles (EVs) within Sri Lanka’s tourist zones, with the aim of transforming these areas into future “Zero Emission” zones.
According to the government, studies are already underway to assess the infrastructure and capabilities required to support such a transition.
The initiative is expected to draw on a mix of investments and practical programmes to encourage the use of EVs in tourism hotspots.
The government added that the move reflects a broader commitment to sustainable development and is designed to inject new vitality into Sri Lanka’s green tourism industry. (Newswire)
