Govt unable to contain brain drain – Maithri

Former President Maithripala Sirisena yesterday said that the government does not have a viable mechanism to prevent the brain drain in the country.

“The government has failed in finding a tangible  solution to prevent the cream of the society from leaving the country,” he said.

He added that mass exodus of professionals from the country has affected almost many sectors including health and education sectors. The former President said that the patients have become helpless due to this situation as the country has plummeted to the situation in which there is only one doctor for 500 persons.

He added that the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna is longer a threat to the Sri Lanka Freedom Party.
