Grade 1 admission on fake documents

The Special Criminal Investigation Division of the Kandy Police is investigating a complaint by a deceased doctor’s wife and the principal of a school, in which the deceased doctor’s brother prepared fake documents and admitted his child to Grade 1 of that school, using his deceased doctor-brother’s name Police have taken several computers belonging to the Students Union of the School into custody.

It is reported that the brother of the deceased doctor, who was educated at a Kandy provincial council school, had also received the support of the president of its Alumni Association, to enroll his child to this leading Buddhist National School. As the deceased doctor’s child was to be admitted to the same school next year, his widow, while preparing the related documents, had come to know that a child had been admitted to the school in her late husband’s name, and informed the principal and the police about it.

The Kandy Additional Magistrate, on a request made by the police, referred the Alumni Association’s computer to the Government Analyst for a report.

Police investigations are continuing.
