Examinations Commissioner General Amith Jayasundara yesterday said that the results of the 2023 Grade 5 Scholarship Examination will be released within 45 days.
He was speaking to the media after the conclusion of the examination. The Grade 5 Scholarship Examination was held yesterday at 2,888 exam centers across the country.
Examination Commissioner said that no problematic incidents have been reported and the examination was concluded successfully.
He said steps will be taken to speedily evaluate the answer scripts of the examination and his department hopes to release the results within 45 days.
He also said that due to the inclement whether in the South, a special programme had been in operation to help affected students with the involvement of a number of stakeholders including Disaster Management officials.
He said there was some issue in Malimbada Sumedha Vidyalaya due to inclement weather but measures had been taken to ensure that all children got there safely and on time for the exam.
He also thanked all parties who helped to hold the exam successfully. He said that 40-45 days will be required to evaluate the answer scripts. The Examinations Commissioner also said that investigations will be conducted if any incident is reported.
Deputy Commissioner of Examinations, Lasika Samarakoon said yesterday that the evaluation of the answer sheets of the scholarship examination will begin from October 26.
He also said that the evaluation work will be done for six days till October 31 of this month and the results will be released within 45 days.
He said that all the answer sheets of the fifth year scholarship examination are to be received by the Sri Lanka Examinations Department by morning today (16) from the regional collection centers across the country.
He stated that 11 children who were receiving treatment in hospitals were referred to the nearest examination center for the exam and four children who were receiving treatment at Maharagama Apeksha Hospital were given the opportunity to sit for the exam at an examination center set up in the hospital.
Three children who were receiving treatment at Lady Ridgeway Children’s Hospital, Colombo were sent to Borella Kannangara Vidyalaya, which was the nearest examination center to the hospital, two children who were receiving treatment at Matara General Hospital and Cooperative Hospital were sent to Matara St.Thomas College, one child who was treated at the Nikaweratiya Hospital was sent to Nikaweratiya Jayanthi Vidyalaya, and another child who was receiving treatment at the Ragama hospital was referred to Kadawatha Dharmadarshi Vidyalaya for the five-year scholarship examinahtion.
Although there was a disaster situation in the Southern province due to the prevailing weather conditions, he said the exam was held without any untoward incidents.
