Great Britain beat India to win Women’s hockey Bronze

TOKYO, August 6 – Indian Men yesterday won their first Olympic Medal in 41 years to get a Bronze but their Women could not produce the same in the Bronze Medal playoff match at the Olympic Games 2020 hockey match at the Oi Hockey Stadium today.

After leading in the second quarter 3-2, India ultimately lost the Bronze Medal, going down to Great Britain 3-4 in an exciting Women’s hockey match today.

Even the scores were levelled 3-3 after the third quarter before Great Britain found that deciding goal in the fourth quarter.

Meanwhile, the Netherlands beat Argentina 3-1 in the final to take home the Women’s hockey Gold Medal.

In the Men’s football Bronze Medal match, hosts Japan went down to Mexico 1-3. There was to be no repeat of Japan’s 2-1 win over Mexico from the group stages when the two teams met again in the Bronze-Medal match at the Saitama Stadium today.

Mexico, who won the Gold-Medal in London in 2012 were in imperious form from start to finish and fully deserved their 3-1 win.

Goals from Sebastian Cordova, Johan Vasquez and Alexis Vega made all the difference for Mexico and rendered Kaoru Mitoma’s late strike mere consolation for the Japanese.
