Great Britain beat India to win Women’s hockey Bronze
After leading in the second quarter 3-2, India ultimately lost the Bronze Medal, going down to Great Britain 3-4 in an exciting Women’s hockey match today.
Even the scores were levelled 3-3 after the third quarter before Great Britain found that deciding goal in the fourth quarter.
Meanwhile, the Netherlands beat Argentina 3-1 in the final to take home the Women’s hockey Gold Medal.
In the Men’s football Bronze Medal match, hosts Japan went down to Mexico 1-3. There was to be no repeat of Japan’s 2-1 win over Mexico from the group stages when the two teams met again in the Bronze-Medal match at the Saitama Stadium today.
Mexico, who won the Gold-Medal in London in 2012 were in imperious form from start to finish and fully deserved their 3-1 win.
Goals from Sebastian Cordova, Johan Vasquez and Alexis Vega made all the difference for Mexico and rendered Kaoru Mitoma’s late strike mere consolation for the Japanese.
