. Amal Rasanga has 20 years experience as a Gymnastic coach and is an International level One coach who is an old boy of St.Sylvesters’ College, Kandy.
17 year old Thenuka Nawaratne,a Grade Eleven student of St.Sylvesters’College, Kandy who started Gymnastics at the age of Eight years and became the Best Gymnast at the Provincial level and after sometime became the National Gymnast who attended a Gymnastic camp held in Dhaka, Bangaladesh from 21st to 25th of July,2018.
The year 2019 was a successful year for Thenuka when he participated at the District Level Gymnastic Meet and won the Pommel Horse and became second in Floor,Horizontal bar, Parallel bar and Floor exercise and when he contested at the All Island Gymnastic Meet from 2014 itself he went on to win the Sri Lanka Schools Junior Meet in floor event and in the same year he became First in Floor and second in parallel bar at the under 12 age group and in 2019 he came second in Parallel bar and third in Floor exercise.
Seventeen year old, Hiran Sasanga is a Grade eleven student of St.Sylvesters’ College,Kandy who started Gymnastics in 2014 at the age of seven and he brought fame to the School winning Eight Gold Medals at the Kandy District Gymnastic Championship from the year 2014 to date under the coaching of Amal Rasanga.
He went up on the ladder of success at the Central Province Gymnastic Championship and won Nine Gold medals, two Silver medals and Ten Bronze medals from the year 2015 upto 2020. He was placed first at the Sony TV International Invitational Gymnastic Cap in the year 2016. He won four Gold Medals in Floor
Exercise, Vault,Parallel Bar and Pommel Horse in this gymnastic Championship and in the year 2018 at the All Island Schools Games in the Under 16 age category he became first in Rings, second in Floor and Pommel Horse, third in Vault and in the year 2019 at the All Island School games he came first in Parallel bar and second in Rings. Hiran became the Champion of the National Novices Artistic Gymnastic Championship (Boys) which was held in the year 2019.
Both Hiran and Thenuka are energetic Gymansts whose intention is to be International Level Gymnasts and they are thankful to their Gymnastic Coach Amal Rasanga and the Principal of the School for the encouragement and guidance towards the sports loving students of the School.
