The Galle Superintendent of Police has interdicted the Habaraduwa Officer-in-Charge of Crimes Division for not taking proper

action on a complaint lodged by a Russian woman on a robbery of several items including a laptop valued about Rs 1.4 million and a camera.

The Habaraduwa Officer-in-Charge of Crimes Division had allegedly documented the complaint as a minor offence and neglected investigations.

Two robbers on a motorcycle had robbed the Russian woman’s laptop and other items on January 24. She had tracked her laptop and had given updates to the Habaraduwa Officer-in-Charge of Crimes Division, but he had not taken any interest to follow up on that information.

However, the officers of the Galle Crimes Investigation Division had arrested the suspects and recovered the robbed items.

Police said if the Habaraduwa Officer-in-Charge of Crimes Division acted swiftly the suspects could have been arrested on the same day of the robbery.
