Seventeen year old,Harindu Karunaratne, a student of Dharmaraja College,Kandy was admitted to School in the year 2010 from Grade One onwards and at present he is in the Grade Twelve class having got through his G.C.E.(O/L) with Nine A’s.

Harindu is a talented Swimmer who started Swimming in the year 2011 under the coaching of Uaynhewa Brothers who were veteran swimming coaches. At the first swimming Meet in the Under seven age group at the Novices Championship he won a Gold Medal at the 200 Metre Individual Medley and a Silver Medal at the 50 Metre Breast Stroke , Bronze in the 50 Metre Back stroke, in the year 2011. After practicing for some time he got an opportunity to participate in Swimming meets only in 2016 at the Inter District Swimming Meet and he won a bronze medal in the 200 Metre Individual Medley event at the 42nd National Sports Festival and in the same year

he became first in the same event at the 44th Sri Lanka Swimming Championship. He did not get a place in the following year at the 44th Sri lanka Schools Aquatic Swimming championship held at the Sugathada Stadium Swimming pool. In 2017 he won a Silver Medal in the 200 Metre Individual Medley at the Inter District Sports Competition of the 44th National Sports Festival. He became second in the 200 Metre Butterfly event at the Sub Junior National Aquatic Championship in the same year.

Harindu became third in the 100 & 200 Metre Individual Medley in the Sub Junior Short Course Swimming Championship and became second in 100 Metre Free Style Event, 50 Metre Breast Stroke and third in the 200 Metre Free Style event at the All Island School games and in 2018 he became second in the 100 Metre Butterfly event at the same Chamionship, In the same year Harindu secured the first place in 100 & 200 Metre Breast Stroke and second in 100 Metre Back stroke at the Junior National Short Course Swimming Championship.

In 2019 he was placed third in 100 metre butterfly event and 200 metre Individual Medley at the All Island games and came first in the 200 metre Butterfly event at the Inter District Swimming Championship at the 45th National Sports Festival. After these achievements received Zonal Swimming Colours at the Colours Award Ceremony in the year 2017 to 2019 and was awarded a Certificate of Rajans Maroons at the College Colours Award Ceremony from 2013 to 2019.

He won Multiple awards at the Provincial Level competitions throughout his Swimming Career from 2013 to date which was a Special achievement and he became a National Swimming Champion at the School swimming championship held at the Sugathadasa Stadium Swimming pool in 2017. Harindu represented Sri Lanka in the Princess

Chulabhorn Swimming Championship from 9th to 10th of December,2019 held at Bangkok, Thailand. He won the Third place in both 100 & 200 Metre Butterfly events at the 45th National Sports Festival and received Central province Sports Honours.

He was selected to the Pool of swimmers to represent Sri Lanka for the Third South Asian Aquatic Swimming Championship in 2019 which was held in Bangalore, India from the 22nd to 29th of January.
