HC Judge severe punishment if Court order over Principal’s transfer violated

Anuradhapura High Court judge Chinthaka Gunasekera said that if it is confirmed that the North Central   education authorities, including the Anuradhapura Zonal Education Director have defied the Court by violating the Interim Order imposed by the High Court by suspending the transfer of a Principal, he will not hesitate to mete out severe punishment against those officials under the Contempt of Court charges.

The High Court judge stated this yesterday (19) while addressing the education authorities when a case was filed before the Anuradhapura High Court challenging the illegal transfer of the Principal of Kaluwila Sena Maha Vidyalaya, Nachchaduwa was taken up in Court.

Presenting facts on behalf of the petitioner, Attorney-at-Law Sajeeva Goonaratne submitted that while the High Court had imposed an Interim Order suspending the transfer of the Principal, the respondents including the Anuradhapura Zonal Education Director had given the transfer to the petitioner Principal in violation of that Court Order.

The High Court Judge Mr. Chinthaka Srilanath Gunasekara ordered the respondents including the Anuradhapura Zonal Education Director to appear before the court on July 13.
