Health Minister calls for report on medicinal drugs
Health Minister Keheliya Rambukwella yesterday instructed the relevant officials to submit a comprehensive report on the drugs required for the country for the next six months.
Accordingly, this report should be prepared by calculating the drugs required for two quarters of three months each, the Minister said.
The Minister gave these instructions at a special discussion held at the Ministry of Health regarding the supply of medicines required for the country during this year.
State Minister of Production, Supply and Distribution of Pharmaceuticals Prof. Channa Jayasumana was also present at the discussion.
The Minister pointed out that despite the obstacles posed by the global epidemic, the people should be provided with the required medicines without any shortage and the government will take priority in this regard.
The Minister of Health instructed the Secretary to the State Ministry of Production, Supply and Distribution of Pharmaceuticals Dr. Saman Ratnayake, to provide information on the countries where drugs are imported into the country and the drugs manufactured in the country.
