HHMIS empowering State hospitals to deliver better patient care

0 4

The Hospital Health Information Management System (HHIMS), which was introduced to improve the efficiency of government hospitals and provide a better service to patients, is currently operating successfully in about 80 hospitals.

Sri Lanka Information and Communication Technology Agency (ICTA) said that more than 9.5 million patients are registered through this system and 23 million electronic medical records of patients are being maintained.

Many services such as patient registration, examination, drug ordering, laboratory tests, radiological tests, etc., have been powered by this system. After a patient arrives at the hospital, he or she is registered through this system and gets a unique number and a barcode. It includes all the details such as illness, treatments received, related health records, prescribed medicines, etc.

When the person comes to the hospital again, it is possible to track the health record easily through this.

Furthermore, with the implementation of this system, it has been possible to reduce the operating costs of running the hospital system, and it has become easier to manage outpatients, inpatients, drug stock management, clinic management, and maintain patient health data records.

As well as empowering healthcare professionals including doctors, it has been possible to make very accurate decisions about patient care services. Paper-based health records have been reduced with the implementation of this system, leading to an environment-friendly health service.

When transferring a patient from one hospital to another hospital, all the details related to that patient will be transferred to that hospital through this system.
