Sri Lanka’s Department of Meteorology has issued an amber advisory warning of heavy rainfall exceeding 100 mm in parts of Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and the Matara, Galle and Puttalam districts.
The department said a low-level atmospheric disturbance near Sri Lanka is expected to bring cloudy skies, showers and thunderstorms to most parts of the island.
The advisory is valid from 3 p.m. on October 15 until 3 p.m. on October 16, 2026.
Residents in affected areas have been urged to remain prepared and take necessary precautions against heavy rainfall and possible flooding.
