Hindu National College, Matale emerged Champions at the Zonal Athletic Championship meet 2023, as this team of young bunch of talented athletes collected 139 points, organised and conducted by the Matale, Educational Zonal, held at the Matale, Hindu National College ground recently..

Matale, Hindu National College has won this Championship for the second consecutive year, which is a unique feat

from left - Y. Tharnesh (Putt Shot) in the under 14 category, middle - Coach, Mahesh Sampath Preethiwardena and right - J.Jaganandru (Long Jump) in the under 12 category, was adjudged as the best athletes in their respective categories and fields.

produced by these young lads by showcasing their talents with many well known Schools participating at this Zonal Athletic Championship mert 2023. St. Thomas College, Matale a reputed School, which has a name for Sports for many years was pushed to the second place with 80 points, as the champions went ahead with a clear lead of 59 points and a lesser known School, Weeraparakrama Vidyalaya, Yatiwatte was placed third with 60 points.

J.Jaganandru ( Long Jump ), in the under 12 category, Y. Tharnesh ( Putt Shot ), in the under 14 category and S. Sivamanojan ( High Jump ), in the under 18 category from Matale, Hindu National College had the distinction of being adjudged as the best Athletes in their respective categories and field at this Matale, Zonal Educational Athletic Championship meet 2023.

All credit has to go to the Principal, S. Ganeshamoorthy, Vice Principal, Indrawansa Herath, for playing a major role to uplift and develop the Sports in this College on behalf of these young Lads. A special token of appreciation also to the Head Coach, Mahesh Sampath Preethiwardena and Assistant Coach, A. Mohamed Fazan for training and guiding them to achieve this Championship for the second consecutive year.
