HNB and Seylan Bank win major titles at Mercantile Badminton
Hatton National Bank (HNB) emerged Grand slam title winners while Seylan Bank won Cup Champions at the 10th Mercantile Inter firm team doubles Badminton championships concluded at Mercantile Badminton Stadium over the weekend.
HNB defeated Hayleys Group 3-1 to win the Grand slam title while Seylan Bank made a 3-1 victory over Dialog to win the cup championship.Meanwhile, DFCC Bank defeated Hddes Extracts 3-1 to take the plate championship while the bowl championship was won by Airport and Aviation defeating David Pieris Motor Company (DPMC) 3-1. HSBC beat Valibal Finance to take the novices title.
There were a few National shuttlers, Kasun Amarasena, Madushika Kottegoda, Nadeesha Gayanthi, Chandrika de Silva, Pameesha Dishanthi, Madusha de Silva took part in this tournament which produced a keen tussle among the teams.
More than 35 teams from 35 companies took part in this tournament which was conducted by the Mercantile Badminton Association. Sanjeewa Akuretiya Director Flex Sportswear (principal sponsor of the tournament) was the chief guest at the awards ceremony while Asanka Rathnayake Director Advantis, Sanjeewa Madushanka CEO Jayawickrama Rice Pvt Ltd, and Tharanga Perera Director Clarion Shipping the co – tournament sponsors were present as guests.
