Hotel manager soliciting sexual bribe arrested in Habarana hotel

The Bribery or Corruption Allegations Investigation Commission (CIABOC) arrested an accountant cum human resources manager of a private hotel in Dambulla on charges of soliciting a sexual bribe at a hotel in Habarana to secure her employment in the hotel and to pay the full amount of 75% of the service charge.

The suspect was arrested in the first raid under the new Anti-Corruption Act No.9 of 2023 which empowered the Bribery or Corruption Investigation Commission to deal with bribery in the private sector. The raid was conducted according to a complaint made by a resident of the Mahawilacchiya area, who works in a hotel. The suspect was arrested after taking her to the hotel as the bribe.

The arrested suspect is to be produced before the Kekirawa Magistrate’s Court.
