Police investigating the brutal killing of a 26-year-old woman residing in Alawathugoda, arrested her husband yesterday (23) on suspicion, five months after the murder.
The body of the woman named Dhanushika Madhuwanti was found on March 11, hidden in a paddy field near her house.
An ex-serviceman residing in the area was arrested by the police on suspicion of the incident following a probe where the police also used sniffer dog Ager of the Kandy Police. A slipper was found lying in the mud of the field near the dead woman’s body, and later it was revealed that it belonged to the husband of the murdered woman. Although a suspect was arrested in connection with the murder,Police, continued the investigation and unearthed information that the deceased woman’s husband was involved in the murder. Police arrested him yesterday morning.
