I always keen to play in SL, says David Miller

Playing cricket in Sri Lanka is interesting and I am very keen to play here in this subcontinental wickets said David Miller the key player of South Africa. I always like to travel to Sri Lanka and this LPL gave good pathway to us, said David Miller.

‘Our plan is to win the game always and happy to see Pallekele matches ending in winning note, said Jaffna Kings key player David Miller in an exclusive interview with the Daily News at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium.

We have made good plans to win the game and it was really worked out. We always forget about our loosing games after learning lessons from them. I am very keen to play LPL. I knew my team and spectators expected more from me and I couldn’t do that in my first matches but hope to come back strongly in next matches, said Miller.

I must thank Sri Lankan spectators as well as Jaffna Kings franchise staff and coaching staff they are doing tremendous job. Being a three times champions of LPL all are having more expectations and our duty is to do better, added David Miller.

The 34 year old left hander Miller who also a useful off spinner is an aggressive stroke maker and he has the ability to hit the ball all over the ground. Going back to memories the hard hitting left hander made quick fire innings during 2018 T-20 World Cup in UAE against Sri Lanka game. At Sharjah Stadium Miller hammered over Lahiru Kumara the paceman to win the game and Sri Lanka couldn’t enter the semi final with this Miller’s knock. Miller is a self styled finisher at white ball format who is having strong off the front and back foot strokes and a safe fielder at any position. Jaffna Kings always have high expectations on Miller.

He made his first class debut in 2008, at the age of 18 and two years later his international debut came on South Africa’s tour of West Indies. Miller has played 155 ODIs and 114 T- 20s. He has scored 3888 ODI runs with five centuries and 21 half centuries while he has scored 2216 T- 20 runs with 2 centuries and six half centuries.

Coming back to the LPL he scored his top score 21 against Kandy team at Pallekele and he was remained not out at two matches against Galle Titans and last game against Colombo Strikers. His batting prowess will be very useful for Jaffna Kings in next matches.

Experienced franchise cricketer David Miller already played IPL in India for Kings X1 Punjab, Rajasthan Royals and Gujarat Titans. In Bangladesh for Bengai Tigers, at Caribbian League for Babados Royals, in Pakistan, Multan Sultans and Peshawar Zalmi, in England County cricket for Durham, Glamorgan, Yorkshire and in his home country KwaZulu – Natal. David Miller is a key attraction at LPL and Jaffna Kings hope to make good use of him for their success.
