IASL HR Conference themed ‘Resilience Reimagined – Thriving Through Change’
The Insurance Association of Sri Lanka (IASL) hosted the HR Conference 2024, themed ‘Resilience Reimagined – Thriving Through Change’, at the Marriott Courtyard in Colombo. The conference was a resounding success, attracting over 150 participants from across the insurance industry.
The event saw the presence of the Executive Committee of IASL and the CEOs of the insurance sector. The conference aimed to empower HR professionals with the knowledge and expertise needed to lead their organisations while fostering resilience and adaptability in a rapidly changing environment.
HR Subcommittee of IASL, DGM HR & Administration of Sri Lanka Insurance Life and past President of CIPM Chairman Rohitha Amarapala said; Following this, IASL President and Group CEO of Sri Lanka Insurance, Chandana L. Aluthgama, addressed the gathering, emphasizing the importance of resilience in the current dynamic environment and the role of HR.
The conference featured several key highlights, including a keynote address by Prof. Ajantha Dharmasiri on ‘Reimagining Resilience’, where he emphasized the transformative power of resilience. Shevan Goonetilleke, CEO of Millennium IT ESP, shared insights on ‘Resilience and Change from a CEO’s Perspective’, and Peter De Almeida, former MD and CEO of N-able, discussed ‘Resilience and Change from an Individual Perspective’.
An engaging panel discussion featuring HR leaders from various industries, including Niranjan Perera Chief People Officer of Lion Brewery, Thilini Patabendige Reward Director Sri Lanka and Technology of London Stock Exchange Group, Kaushal Mendis Chief People Officer Daraz Pakistan & Sri Lanka and moderated by Ruki De Silva Co-Founder Independent Collective School, provided diverse perspectives on resilience and change.
Participants praised the conference for its practical strategies to navigate change and build resilience within their organisations. The event set a new benchmark for fostering a community of forward-thinking professionals ready to thrive through change in the insurance sector.
The conference concluded with a networking session and fellowship, providing an opportunity for participants and senior officials from the insurance sector to connect and share insights. The event
ended on a high note with concluding remarks from the event organizing committee chairman, Imtiyaz Aniff. He commended the dedicated efforts of his organizing team, including Charitha Bandara,
Chalani Gunaratne, Dahami Pathirana, Chamari Amarasinghe, and Thilak Nishantha, whose collective contributions highlighted the spirit of camaraderie and collaboration within the HR fraternity of the insurance industry.
